Gold Rush Tournament Rules

Gold Rush Tournament - September 16-19, 2010

The Gold Rush Tournament is an individual competition that Professional and Amateurs golfers compete against each other. Groups will be randomly made up of 1 Pro and 3 amateur golfers, and will change for each day of play.  Groups will not play as a team they will all play as individuals.

The Gold Rush Tournament will be played in Shotgun Start format for the first 3 days of play (September 16-18). All golfers (Pros and Amateurs) must play their own ball through the entire tournament.

The fourth and final round (Sept.19) will be a tee-time based format. The lowest net score of the day, Pro or Amateur, will win the $1,000,000 prize.  Cash prizes will be awarded to all Pros and Amateurs that make it to the fourth and final day.

Scoring Format

Although Mountains of Gold anticipates that many participants will have an established handicap and be a member of an RCGA/USGA affiliated club, their handicap will not be used in this event.  The handicap an Amateur posts while qualifying into the Gold Rush Tournament through the summer event will be what is used for the Tournament.  That handicap will then again be adjusted by the Rules and Regualtion Board for the 36 Amateurs that qualify into the 4th and final day.  Pros will play at a 0 handicap.

The final round will consist of 12 pros, 18 amateurs with the lowest gross scores from the first 3 days, and 18 amateurs with the lowest net scores from the first 3 days. All Amateur golfers will be handicapped for the final round.  It will be scored by Stroke Play, handicap-adjusted, with Pros playing at a zero handicap. The rules committee will make the final assessment on the application of the scoring system.
