Mountains of Gold Q&A
1. What does the package include?
- The package includes 3 rounds of golf, 3 night’s accommodation, daily draws and contest, nightly events, and the chance to qualify into the season ending $1,000,000 Gold Rush Tournament. It is an event designed to allow golfers of all abilities to have fun and enjoy the spectacular location.
2. If an amateur wins the $1 million does he have to surrender his amateur status? - Yes, if an amateur wins the whole event and they choose to accept the $1 million, they will have to give up their amateur status for 2 years. After 2 years they may re-apply for their amateur status. There is also the option to donate the winnings to a charity of their choice.
- The golfer’s amateur status should not be in jeopardy if they play in the $1 Million Gold Rush Tournament and do not collect or win any prize money over $1000; although that is the golfers responsibility.
3. Will there be an age limit to enter the tournament? - The KRMG Tournament is open to golfers age 19 and over, as of May 14, 2010. Any underage golfer that registers will not be accepted, although they may golf the courses with Mountains of Gold participants, but will not qualify for any draws, contests, or prizes.
4. How do the daily prizes work? - • There will be 2 daily prizes rewarded throughout the 124 qualifying days. One prize will be awarded to the person who scores the lowest net score based on the Mountains of Gold version of the Callaway Scoring System that day at Shadow Mountain. This golfer will receive their entrance into the Gold Rush Tournament, expenses covered, or the choice of $750 cash. The second prize will be awarded based on a name draw of all the golfers golfing with Mountains of Gold at Shadow Mountain that day. The golfer whose name is drawn will have their choice of receiving their entrance into the Gold Rush Tournament, expenses covered, or $500 cash.
- There will also be 1 golfer every week that will receive a spot in the final Gold Rush Tournament, expenses covered, based on the best gross score (not adjusted by the Callaway Scoring System) of the week. Ties will be broken by best score shot on the hole of the week.
5. Will this event be open for anybody to enter? - Yes. It will be open to anybody above the age of 19. Everybody will play to their own handicap based on the Mountains of Gold Callaway Scoring System. For the final Gold Rush Tournament females will play from the forward tees, and males will be assigned to tee boxes by the tournament committee.
6. How early will people have to decide on the dates that they want to come down to golf, and will there be a cancellation policy, and a date change policy? - Cancellations
- Cancellation Insurance is available starting at $39 per person at the time of booking. Without Cancellation Insurance, all bookings are transferrable, but non-refundable. No cancellations within 30 days of play. Please see Rules and Regulations for all details concerning cancellation or booking change requests.
- Exchanges
- Date Change Requests may be made up to 30 days before the scheduled dates of play, based on availability. A change fee of $25 per golfer will apply to any exchanges.
- Should there be a change of golfers within the party, the new participant’s name and information must be submitted in full, and a change fee of $25 will apply.
7. What if someone doesn’t have anybody to pair up with, can they still register as a single golfer? - Golfers looking to book a single spot are advised to phone the office at 1-877-427-7847 and talk to a tournament representative. All prices are based on a minimum of double occupancy. We are willing to take single bookings but package prices will adjust accordingly if a golfer was to participate solo.
8. What happens if the golfer would prefer to line up their own accommodations, live in the area, or have a vacation home in the area? - The rates will remain the same for golfers with their own accommodation. However, they will be sent a $150 voucher or swipe card that they can spend however they like at any of the participating venues involved in the tournament (i.e. Shadow Mountain, St. Eugene, restaurants, tee times, pro-shop, etc.)
9. What will happen if there are weather complications in the 3 day time period a golfer is in the area? - The golfers will receive their choice of a free round or a $75 gift voucher for the pro-shop at each of the courses that was rained out. If the course is playable and they choose not to play then they do not receive any compensation.
- There will still be two golfers rewarded with the daily prizes and entrance into the final Gold Rush Tournament. The winners will be determined at the tournaments discretion.
10. How do Golf Professional’s qualify into the final $1,000,000 Gold Rush Tournament? - The top 100 Pro’s that have the most Amateur Golfers registered under their name by May 14, 2010 will be invited to play in the $1,000,000 Gold Rush Tournament between Sept 16 – 19, 2010.
- It costs nothing for a Pro to register his name in the tournament, and once he/she has registered amateur’s may start registering under their name.
- A Pro may be any golfer with a valid Pro Card. This may include Club Pros’, Assistant Pros’, or any other.
- The Pro is not required to play throughout the summer event with their amateur golfers.
